About Myself

I am a second year PhD student at the department of Computer Science in the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). My research currently focuses on applications of Semi-Supervised Learning in NLP and Vision tasks. I am supervised by Professor Dr. Cornelia Caragea. I am a graduate research assistant for the semester - Fall 2024.

Before joining UIC am a lecturer in Computer Science at Uttara University, with 3+ years of teaching experience in an academic setup.

I am very enthusiastic about technology which led me to study and work in the ever advancing field of Computer Science. The satisfaction of developing something new or improving the existing technologies motivates me to work in research and development.

My undergraduate thesis was on Human Computer Interaction domain, titled - Augmented Reality Based Lifelogging System for Reminiscence under the supervision of: Professor Dr. Kamrul Hasan and Associate Prof Dr. Hasan Mahmud. Currently I am studying and continuing research on performance enhancement of NLP & Vision models in a Semi-Supervised setup.

I am interested to collaborate on different fascinating and challenging NLP and vision projects. I am self-motivated toward research and confident that my experience and insights can bring a positive change to any research project and expedite the progress towards the goal.

Apart from academic and research experience, I also have some expertise in software development, in particular, Software Quality Assurance at a software development and testing company in Bangladesh.

I consider myself communicative, organized, responsible, studious and proactive. I have strong academic writing skills and can work well with teammates.

BanglaRQA: A Benchmark Dataset for Under-resourced Bangla Language Reading Comprehension-based Question Answering with Diverse Question-Answer Types

Year: 2022

Domain: Natural Language Processing (NLP)

  • Synopsis: Question Answering is one of the fundamental tasks of NLP. In this research we developed a dataset containing Reading Comprehension, Questions and Answers to fine tune the state of the art models which resulted in achieving a better accuracy. Our dataset can be considered as a lofty training resource for different language models.

Augmented Reality Based Lifelogging System for Reminiscence

Year: 2021

Domain: Human Computer Interaction (HCI)

  • Synopsis: Retrieving memories has always been a substantial area in cognitive science. Apart from sentimental longing for a moment in the past, recollecting previous memories have other demands as well. We propose that such approaches can encourage more mindful engagement with life-logging system and Augmented Reality promoting positive effects linked to reminiscing with little to no cognitive work.
